Designed in the early part of the '30s by the famous engineer Rosatelli, the Fiat CR 32 was powered by a 600 HP V12 engine that allowed it to reach 375 km/h. One of the most famous biplanes in the history of aviation, it was characterized by extraordinary manoeuvrability. It was also robust and well-armed for the historical period thanks to the two Breda-Safat 12.7 mm machine guns. that shot through the propeller disc. The Fiat CR 32 had its baptism of fire with the Legionary Aviation, during the Spanish Civil War, and immediately prevailed over Soviet-made monoplane fighters such as the Polikarpov I-16 that equipped the Republican aviation departments. Thanks to the extraordinary manoeuvrability and training of Italian pilots, the CR 32 prevailed even over aircraft with a more modern and current concept. Even the fast, for those years, Soviet-made bomber Tupolev SB-2, believed to be uninterceptable thanks to its speed, suffered numerous losses during air clashes with the "Chirri" of the Legionary Aviation.
