The Leopard 2 entered service in 1979 and replaced the earlier Leopard 1 as the main battle tank of the West German Army. The biggest feature of the Leopard 2A6 is the replacement of the L55 120mm smooth-bore bun. The muzzle has a velocity of 1750m/s, the highest in the world. The tank saw use in the 1990's, 2000's and even to this day.
