In 1979, the Ukrainian Krementschuker Automobile Plant began to develop the KRAZ-255 family of heavy military trucks on the basis of the KRAZ-260. In 1985, the KRAZ-260 first appeared at a military parade on Red Square in Moscow with a towed 152-mm howitzer. The car is equipped with a YAMZ-238L eight-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 300 horsepower. Through the Afghan War, the two Chechen Wars, the Russian-Georgian Five-Day War, and the Ukrainian Civil War. The KrAz-260 perfectly inherits the excellent cross-country and towing capabilities of the KrAz-255. In the 90s, the KrAz-260B was exported to China as a tractor chassis for the S-300 anti-aircraft missile, and in 1999 on the National Day 50Appearance in Tiananmen Square during the anniversary military parade. It is still in service with the PLA anti-aircraft missile forces. In 1993, the KRAZ-260 underwent a series of improvements, and after mass production, it became the KrAZ-6322.
