Multiple rocket launcher BM=13-16 known in the Red Army also as 'Katyusha' was widely used practically on all fronts on Soviet-German front. They were used usually on the directions of the main strikes. M-13 rockets had a range of more than 8 kilometres and were equipped with 5 kg of explosives each. Guards rocket launchers (this was the name of the multiple launch rocket systems during the war) with their powerful destructive power also had a strong psychological effect on the enemy. The volley of one regiment of such rocket launchers could destroy an area of more than one square kilometre. The launchers were mounted on various carriers, including planes and ships. As for wheeled chassis, in the early war period they were usually Soviet ZIS vehicles. With the start of Lend-Lease deliveries, BM-13-16s began to be mounted on Western made vehicles as well. One of them was Chevrolet G7107. This rugged off-road vehicle was popular with the Army and in various versions remained in service with the Soviet Army until the mid-1950s.
