The Italeri 1:72 A-6E TRAM Intruder is a plastic scale model kit of the Grumman A-6E Intruder, a twin-engine, all-weather carrier-based attack aircraft used by the United States Navy and Marine Corps.

About the aircraft

The A-6E Intruder was designed as a long-range, all-weather strike aircraft capable of delivering precision ordnance at night or in poor visibility conditions from aircraft carriers.

The TRAM (Target Recognition and Attack, Multi-sensor) variant added a forward-looking infrared (FLIR) and laser designator system in a distinctive under-nose turret, greatly improving night attack capability and precision strike performance.

The A-6E served in major conflicts including:

  • Vietnam War (earlier A-6 variants and continued upgrades)

  • Lebanon operations (1980s)

  • Gulf War (1991)

  • various Cold War carrier deployments
