The Italeri 1:72 Ju 87 G-2 “Kanonenvogel” is a plastic scale model kit of the famous Junkers Ju 87 Stuka dive bomber, specifically the late-war tank-busting G-2 variant used by Germany during World War II.

About the aircraft

The Ju 87 G-2 was a specialised anti-tank version of the Stuka developed in response to increasingly heavy Allied armour on the Eastern Front.

It was most famously flown by pilots like Hans-Ulrich Rudel, and was equipped with:

  • two underwing 37mm BK 3.7 cannon pods

  • reinforced wings to handle heavy weapon loads

  • removal of dive brakes (since it operated more as a low-level attack aircraft than a dive bomber)

The G-2 was used primarily on the Eastern Front, where it was effective against Soviet tanks and armoured vehicles.
