When the Pacific War broke out in 1941, the Japanese Navy's A6M "Zero" fighter successfully contained the Allied air power and achieved absolute air supremacy in the early days of the Pacific War. But with the advent of the U.S. military's aircraft carrier-based F4F "Wildcat" fighter, the situation of the "Zero" fighter dominating the world has been reversed. At the critical moment of the Pacific War in 1942, the modified "Wildcat" F4F-4 carrier-based fighter began to show its prominence. This folding-wing aircraft with powerful firepower, equipped with 6 caliber 50mm cannons on its wings and equipped with the latest 1,200 kN "Whitney" R-1830-36 air-cooled radial piston engine, once it came out, began to challenge the air supremacy of the "Zero" aircraft with its excellent performance. Soon, the "Wildcat" won the reputation of "iron avoidance" with its strong armor design, which made it safe to return home even if it was hit many times in the air. Although the "Wildcat" is still inferior to the "Zero" in many aspects, with its unique anti-strike advantage, it just hit the biggest disadvantage of the "Zero" fighter, that is, its vulnerability, and achieved a brilliant record against the "Zero" fighter.
